Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

This folks, is what fall is made of.  I love having green smoothies in the morning for breakfast, but I also love oatmeal when it starts to get cooler.  I like the windows opened in my house for as long as possible and often times that means chilly mornings.  It’s such a great way to start the day and even better when you can add some really great flavors.  If you’ve been following me for a while, you should know that pumpkin recipes are to be expected this time of year.     Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal Ingredients: 1 c. Pumpkin Pancakes

I think I have a slight problem.  This website is still rather new and a majority of recipes seem to be pancakes.  Is there anyone else out there that craves them on the weekend?  If so, read on… We experimented with some pumpkin pancakes and this was the result.  They’re crazy fluffy and super moist.  Dare I say it tasted like pumpkin pie?  You be the judge.   Pumpkin Pancakes (Makes 15-20 pancakes) Ingredients: 2 c. pumpkin puree 2 c. oats 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 6 eggs, separated   Method: Place egg yolk, pumpkin, […]

5 Apple Recipes for Fall

This past weekend, the family and I went up to Northern Georgia in Blue Ridge to try some apple picking at Mercier Orchard.  Apple picking is a fond memory I had growing up in Illinois.  I remember coming home with bags full of apples.  Funny thing is, I don’t remember making anything with them, simply snacking. I loved it so much growing up as a kid, I suppose I use having a daughter as an excuse to try it again (although do I really need an excuse?)  She absolutely loved it.  There were apples in both hands and she did […]

How To Meal Plan Quickly

I’ve been scratching my head lately trying to figure out what is the secret sauce for getting healthy. 80% of it is diet and 20% is exercise. Diet is huge! It obviously starts in the kitchen and I think it’s important to have systems in place so that it’s convenient to be healthy. Most of the time, when we’re SUPER hungry, we want food quick so if we put things in place in the kitchen, this shouldn’t be a problem. The first step is meal PLANNING. I know it sounds horrible and it used to be for me until […]

Cajun Seasoning

There are 2 seasonings we use the most in the Flores household and that is southwest seasoning, and this cajun seasoning.  It’s a really good all-purpose seasoning.  This recipe does have a little kick to it but you can always adjust that to your liking. If you’re unsure how to use this, I have several recipes in the Fall Foodie Bootcamp that uses it.    Cajun Seasoning   Ingredients: 3 Tbsp. paprika 2 1/2 Tbsp. salt 2 Tbsp. garlic powder 2 Tbsp. onion powder 1 Tbsp. black pepper 1 Tbsp. dried oregano 1 Tbsp. thyme 1 tsp – 1 Tbsp. cayenne […]
