If you’re looking at this recipe thinking this is going to be a great replacement for burgers, well it isn’t. I guess you could call me a cheeseburger connoisseur. That’s a favorite cheat meal of mine and hubby’s and we always make it a game to search for the best cheeseburger. The verdict is still out on the best one. Gosh, now I’m craving cheeseburger when I’m supposed to be writing about black bean burgers. I digress…
With ALL that said, this burger is just plain great. No, it won’t taste like a burger, but it’s still a pretty darn good sandwich. We’ve experimented with these types of burgers in the past and it was always difficult to get a good consistency. They can be known to fall apart and the trick is obviously getting it to hold. My husband, A.J., found himself always adding various ingredients to get a good hold and then it just go too complicated and we simply gave up. We found this recipe on the MyFitness Pal app and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, there were too many ingredients for my taste and probably for you moms that don’t have time to fiddle with all that stuff. So here is a much simplified version that I hope you’ll enjoy.
- 1 (15-ounce) can Black Beans, rinsed and drained
- 1⁄2 cup Quick-Cooking Oats
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 Tbsp. Southwest Seasoning
Place ingredients in a blender. Mix until distributed evenly. Form into patties. Cook for 3-5 minutes on each side on a non-stick pan.
